Financial Assistance

The Financial Assistance Office awards financial assistance to eligible students and is located within the Admissions Office. The programs offered through this office include but are not limited to the following: grants, scholarships, loans and work-study which assist with tuition and education-related expenses. Applications for financial assistance must be done annually. Forms are available beginning in January of each year. Early application is encouraged as awards are made on a first-come, first serve basis until all funds have been exhausted.

OLCC Grant Assistance

Currently OLCC is offering a Financial Need Grant to all students who apply to OLCC, who have scored at least a 700 on the SAT or at least a 10 on the ACT, or who are applying after the SAT/ACT requirement are needed. THIS IS NOT OLCC’s standards for admission; however it is a prerequisite to offer students an opportunity for eligibility to receive a grant that OLCC offers.

The Grant is designed to take into consideration the families “Discretionary Income”, that is income after taxes and basic needs, rather than the Adjusted Gross Income. Factors such as mortgage/rent, savings, food, gas, utilities, insurance and vehicle payments are taken into consideration. Students under 23 must use their parents’/guardians’ income that is taking responsibility for them, unless the student is a:

  1. Veteran
  2. 23 years of age or older
  3. Married
  4. Orphan/Ward of the State
  5. Independent for two years (time living in a college dorm does not count as independent) Independent defined as: not been filed on another persons’ taxes and paying their own rent/mortgage
  6. Has son/daughter or dependents of their own

All returning students must have the OLCC Financial Need Grant application filled out prior to May 15th of the previous year of enrollment with an updated proof of income (Previous year’s taxes) from their parents or their self, if independent. Contact Admissions for a Grant Application Form.
